SAN FRANCISCO -- Attorney General Kamala D. Harris issued the following statement in observance of National Crime Victims Week:
This week, we pay special honor to crime victims and recommit ourselves to support and empower them. Every Californian has the right to live in a safe community and to a criminal justice system that protects the rights of individuals and families whose lives have been forever changed by crime. I am grateful for the courage of crime victims and their tireless advocates who work hard every day to protect and preserve those rights for all Californians.
