This one-week (40-hour) course will provide students the ability to recognize, document, and categorize bloodstain patterns. This course will cover the interpretation of bloodstain patterns as produced in acts of violence, including methods of documentation for court presentation. Each class is limited to 16 students. POST Plan IV reimbursement. Course meets IAI and IABPA requirements

Classroom lectures, PowerPoint, video classroom demonstrations and laboratory exercises leading to full scale aggressive motions generating bloodstain patterns.
Students will complete extensive laboratory exercises and demonstrate understanding of bloodstain pattern interpretation by completing a practical final examination.
Crime Scene Investigation I, or equivalent, and Crime Scene II or permission of course instructor. Applicants must be employed as a criminalist or forensic scientist in an accredited laboratory.
No cost to POST supported or State of California based Law Enforcement agencies. A $600.00 tuition fee will be required of all other public agency, private sector, or out-of-state applicants.
