Class Description: 
This five-day (38-hour) course is the second in the Crime Scene Series. Building on information learned in Crime Scene Investigation I, the course focuses on development of crime scene processing skills. The student will work in a team to process and evaluate several crime scenes. The emphasis will be on homicide investigations and the integrated roles of the criminalist and the investigator(s). The course prepares the criminalist to respond to any crime scene. Each class is limited to 20 students. This course is POST reimbursable, Plan IV.

Teaching Methods: 
Classroom lectures, demonstrations, role playing, laboratory exercises, and mock scenes.
Objectives: 
Students will perform various tasks at a series of crime scenes to demonstrate that they have acquired the necessary skills and abilities. A final exam will be given.
Prerequisites: 
Applicants must be employed in a forensic laboratory as a criminalist or forensic scientist and must have had a firearms safety class or a documented equivalent training course. Crime Scene Investigation I is a prerequisite.
Preparation: 
Students should have crime scene experience (in at least an observer capacity). Students will need to bring a basic crime scene collection kit and eye and ear protection.
Materials Fee: 
$50.00
Tuition: 
No cost to POST supported or State of California based Law Enforcement agencies. A $600.00 tuition fee will be required of all other public agency, private sector, or out-of-state applicants.
