Attorney General Kamala D. Harris Commemorates Cesar Chavez Day

SAN FRANCISCO -- Attorney General Kamala D. Harris issued this statement today in recognition of the towering achievements of Cesar Chavez:

“Today, we honor the life and legacy of a true hero for all Californians. Cesar Chavez fought a lifetime for basic fairness and human rights and sparked a movement that enrolled generations of Americans in a journey toward a more perfect, more just union. We, as Californians, observe this special day to recognize all he achieved, but we truly honor what he fought for in our daily work -- whether we're teachers, nurses, police officers, or farm workers -- when we serve our fellow citizens. The women and men of the Department of Justice, and I as Attorney General, express our gratitude for his sacrifices and commit ourselves to continuing the struggle for a better California.”
