(SACRAMENTO) – Attorney General Bill Lockyer today released the following statement on newly-crafted legislation to give Californians greater control over how their personal financial information is shared by businesses:
"Californians have said in a resounding voice that they are tired of having their personal financial information shared without their consent, and they want it stopped. But for years their call has gone unheeded. The legislation announced today is a significant step toward ending their frustration, and providing stronger protections for the privacy Californians so highly prize. I commend the good faith and hard work of Sen. Speier and all the parties who helped craft this important measure."
