Clandestine Laboratory Safety Certification

Course Description - This 40 hour course is for law enforcement officers assigned to a clandestine laboratory response and processing unit. The course is designed to satisfy federal and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) pursuant to regulation 29 CFR 1910.120 (Hazardous Waste Operation and Emergency Response). Additionally, 24 hours of on-the-job training consisting of at least three clandestine laboratory sites are required for course completion/certification.

Who Should Attend - Peace officers assigned to investigate, respond, and process clandestine laboratories.

Prerequisites - Successful completion of the CA Department of Justice, Advanced Training Center 36 hour Clandestine Laboratory Investigations course. Participants must be medically approved to wear an air purifying respirator and personal protective equipment.

Course Objectives - To provide students with the information and direction needed to safely enter a clandestine laboratory or other hazardous environment, and effectively process the scene for successful investigation and prosecution of the laboratory.
