Course Description - This 40-hour course will emphasize planning and executing Rural Operation activities and the associated factors, which must be considered in order to be safe and successful in rural environments. This course is intended for those who work in rural environments as well as Marijuana associated investigations. It is also intended for Tactical Team members utilized to secure grow sites, initiate the apprehension of Marijuana growers, or who may work in a rural environment. The first day of the course will be presented in a classroom environment followed by practical demonstrations and scenarios out in the field.
Who Should Attend - Tactical Team members who secure grow sites, initiate the apprehension of Marijuana growers, or who may be utilized to apprehend fugitives in a rural environment.
Course Objectives - This course provides students a basic foundation in the understanding of the planning considerations and tactical skills necessary to operate safely and successfully in rural environments. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on providing hands-on experience in those environments.
Note: It is highly recommended that students wear departmentally approved BDU’s during the entire five days of instruction to participate in scheduled exercises. Approved load bearing equipment as well as hydration system should also be worn during practical exercises and demonstrations. Students will be required to perform at a moderate level of physical activity. Students are encouraged to bring the service weapon and holster and assigned long gun they will use during an actual Rural Operation assignment. Failure to adhere to required safety procedures may be grounds for immediate dismissal from the course and notification of the student's agency. Students are encouraged to bring departmental cars or trucks which can be used in the Convoy exercises. An additional equipment list will be provided after your application has been received.
