Attorney General Becerra: California Will Vigorously Defend the Rights of Transgender Servicemembers

SACRAMENTO - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s memorandum to ban transgender individuals serving in the military:

“California will take every measure available to prevent President Trump’s discriminatory action that harms or marginalizes transgender servicemembers or any other transgender Americans who wish to courageously defend our nation. We must honor all those who serve in our military and sacrifice their lives to fight for the safety of our nation.”

“Our team at the California Department of Justice is reviewing this latest Trump move and will continue to vigorously defend the rights of transgender individuals.”
