Attorney General Becerra: U.S. DOJ Extends Invitation to California on Technology and Social Media Meeting
SACRAMENTO - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Department of Justice's (U.S. DOJ) meeting to discuss the role and oversight of the social media and technology industry. The U.S. DOJ today extended an invitation to California to attend the meeting with state attorneys general, which will be held on September 25.
“US DOJ has responded to our request that states with interests involving the future and oversight of social media platforms be included in any discussion of this subject,” said Attorney General Becerra. “U.S. DOJ has extended an invitation to California to participate in its planned September 25 meeting with state attorneys general, and we’re told other states will be invited, too. States like California, the nation’s tech leader and home to a $385 billion tech industry, have a wealth of insight and expertise to share in any inquiry about the role of technology companies and we look forward to a thoughtful conversation in Washington, DC.”
