SACRAMENTO – California Attorney General Rob Bonta issued the following statement regarding the fatal shootings of two California law enforcement officers in less than 24 hours. San Luis Obispo Police Department Detective Lucas “Luca” Benedetti was killed on May 10, 2021, while he and fellow officers were serving a search warrant in the City of San Luis Obispo. Stockton Police Department Officer Jimmy Inn was killed on May 11, 2021, while responding to a domestic disturbance call.

“We mourn with two California communities today over the tragic deaths of Detective Benedetti and Officer Inn. For 12 years, Detective Benedetti served the people of San Luis Obispo County – first as a member of the Atascadero Police Department and then with the San Luis Obispo Police Department. He died protecting his community, and we honor him for that brave sacrifice. We also honor Officer Inn, not just for the courage he showed today, but for his dedicated service to the people of Stockton throughout his more than five-year career with the Department. My sincerest condolences go out to the wives, children, and all of the loved ones of both of these brave men.”

Detective Benedetti – EOW: 5/10/21

Officer Inn – EOW: 5/11/21
