Attorney General Bonta Issues Statement on Death of Selma Police Officer

OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta today issued the following statement on the death of Selma Police Officer Gonzalo Carrasco Jr., who died in the line of duty on Tuesday, January 31, 2023:

“I join Californians in mourning the tragic loss of Officer Carrasco, a dedicated public servant whose service represented the best of the California spirit,” said Attorney General Bonta. “On behalf of the entire California Department of Justice, I extend my condolences to Officer Carrasco’s family, community, and colleagues.”

Officer Carrasco began his career with the Selma Police Department in May of 2021. He is survived by his expectant partner, parents, and siblings.
