Course Description - This 36-hour course provides an introduction and overview of the criminal intelligence function, defines relevant terms, describes the intelligence process, and provides uniform guidelines to assist personnel in meeting their responsibilities. Additionally, the criminal intelligence environment will be discussed along with legal issues and suggestions on how to avoid pitfalls and be successful.
Who Should Attend - Peace officers, criminal intelligence specialists, and analysts currently assigned to gang, organized crime, terrorist, criminal extremist, or other intelligence units.
Course Objectives - Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to use the latest intelligence-related concepts to develop and maintain a professional unit; ensure product credibility; understand the intelligence environment legal issues; collect, evaluate, analyze, disseminate and manage criminal intelligence information; and recognize trends which may impact regional jurisdictions.
