This week, we announced a number of actions to stand up for public safety across California. In the courtroom, we secured a critical victory upholding California’s law banning large-capacity magazines — a commonsense way to prevent gun violence, including devastating mass shootings. In San Diego, before volunteering at a local nonprofit, I issued a consumer alert to help protect Californians from being deceived by scammers when donating to charities this holiday season. And today, in the Bay Area, I announced the felony sentencing of multiple individuals involved in one of the largest retail theft busts in California history.

As a dad, I want every child to grow up in a safe and healthy neighborhood. As Attorney General, I’m committed to using my tools to build that brighter future. Protecting the safety, health, and well-being of California’s families is my top priority.

Putting a Stop to Retail Theft

Today I announced the sentencing of multiple defendants involved in a scheme to resell goods stolen from Bay Area retailers. The organized retail theft we’re seeing in California and throughout the country are coordinated efforts by groups that are targeting stores with the intention of stealing as much as possible with no regard for the safety of the workers or consumers in those businesses. The defendants in this case have been held to account for their crimes, and I can assure you, others will be as well.

Promoting Safe Charitable Donations in San Diego

This week I visited the San Diego nonprofit Logan Heights Community Development Corporation to share donation tips and help them in their efforts to serve the San Diego community.

Upholding California’s Ban on Large-Capacity Magazines

Gun violence is an epidemic in this country, but laws like California’s ban on large-capacity magazines are commonsense ways to prevent this violence, including devastating mass shootings. This week we secured a decision by an en banc panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit reversing a district court decision and upholding California’s restrictions on large-capacity magazines. I’m thankful to the Court for giving this case a second look, and confirming what we know to be true: our laws keep Californians safe while allowing law-abiding gun owners to exercise their constitutional rights.

Housing with the word scam written on the side
Investing may involve various risks, but being swindled by unqualified individuals should not be one of them. This week we announced the indictment and arraignment of the owner of Downkicker, Inc. for allegedly running a fraudulent real estate investment scheme.
