Division Overview

The Division of Recidivism Reduction & Re-Entry works to curb recidivism in partnership with the state’s 58 counties. DR3 collaborates with District Attorneys, county probation and law enforcement, community organizations, and state agencies to facilitate new programs and practices that reduce recidivism. In particular, the division will:

  • Develop Policies & Programs: Work to design evidence-based anti-recidivism programs and policies, and identify efforts that are already working in order to spread best practices across the state
  • Aid in Funding New Initiatives: Identify federal and private grant opportunities to fund county initiatives, and aid counties (particularly District Attorney’s offices) in applying for funding
  • Track and Analyze Data: Develop standard metrics for tracking recidivism, and use innovative technology (like DOJ’s new SmartJustice system) to analyze recidivism risk factors and track repeat offenders and offense trends
