On December 18, 2019, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) approved the Department of Justice’s emergency regulation for Data Broker Registration and filed it with the Secretary of State. This regulation became effective on January 1, 2020. According to the OAL approval, this regulation was due to expire on June 30, 2020. Pursuant to Executive Order N-71-20, the expiration date for this regulation has been extended to October 28, 2020. The Department provided notice to the public on June 24, 2020 that it would be pursuing a readoption of this emergency regulation; however, due to the extension issued by Executive Order N-71-20, the Department will not be pursuing a readoption of this regulation at this time.
