Approved: Regulations for the California Restraining and Protective Order System (CARPOS) (formerly Gun Violence Restraining Orders (GVRO)). In response to the public comments, and to clarify the regulations as originally proposed the Department has revised the proposed regulations to conform to the changes made to Penal Code section 14231.5 and the addition of Penal Code section 14240.
On April 7, 2022, the Office of Administrative Law approved the Department of Justice’s regulation regarding the California Restraining and Protective Order System and filed it with the Secretary of State. These regulations become effective on July 1, 2022.
