Below are regularly posted or updated Registry reports.
Available for download below are lists of charitable organizations that may or may not operate or solicit in California. Registration and reporting compliance with the Registry is indicated by the Registry Status. Registry Status definitions are available on the Registry Search Tool Tips & Filing Definitions page.
The lists are in comma separated value (CSV) format and updated on the first and third Wednesday of each month. CSV files may be opened by a number of applications, including Microsoft Excel. For details about the data included in the CSV files, review Charity Registration Reports Data Legend (PDF).
Organizations with a Registry Status in italics are not registered. In most cases, an organization that is not registered and in good standing with the Registry is prohibited from soliciting charitable donations. Certain organizations, such as nonprofit religious corporations, nonprofit educational institutions and nonprofit hospitals, are exempt from the registration requirements and the Supervision Act does not prohibit these entities from soliciting or operating. Mutual benefit organizations may be included on the list prohibiting charitable solicitations. This does not mean the mutual benefit organization is prohibited from operating, it merely reflects that it cannot solicit charitable donations unless it is in compliance with the registration and reporting requirements for organizations holding charitable assets.
The downloadable lists are not complete as they omit data on non-California (and some California) entities whose information has not been provided to the Registry.
Latest and additional data for each listed organization is available through the Registry Search Tool.
Potential donors are encouraged to research organizations using the Registry Search Tool and those available from the Secretary of State, Franchise Tax Board and IRS to determine an organization’s tax-exempt status. Donors may also want to review our Resources and Donation Tips.

Some of these entities may have registered. |
*Exempt from registration, but must file IRS Form 990-PF with the Registry annually.
**Organization is subject to a pending enforcement action filed by the Attorney General’s Office. The time to appeal the action may not have expired or the organization has appealed or is otherwise contesting the enforcement action. The organization may continue to operate and solicit donations until the enforcement action is resolved, if it is otherwise current with its registration and reporting requirements.
***Mutual benefit organizations are not required to register with the Attorney General unless the organization solicits or holds charitable assets. If the organization is soliciting charitable donations, it must be registered and in good standing with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers. This list is compiled for the purpose of determining whether an organization can hold or solicit charitable donations in California. Mutual benefit organizations on this list are not registered with the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers and may not solicit charitable donations, but are not prohibited from operating as a mutual benefit organization. The inclusion of a mutual benefit organization on this list does not mean that the organization has done anything improper.
****This organization is not registered with the Attorney General. An organization has up to 30 days to register after it initially receives assets, unless it is exempt from the registration requirements. (See, Government Code, § 12583.) An organization that fails to register within 30 days after it first receives assets may not operate or solicit donations.

These reports include statistics for donations of both cash and used personal goods. The reports are available below in PDF format.
To aid in research and analysis, lists of the revenue and portion given to the charitable organization for each campaign are separately provided.
