Available for download, below is a list of charitable organizations that are not in good standing with the Attorney General’s Registry of Charities and Fundraisers, and thus may not operate or solicit for charitable purposes in California. (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 11, § 312.)
The May Not Operate or Solicit for Charitable Purposes List is updated on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Note: the Registry Search Tool reflects real-time data on listed charitable organizations. To check a charitable organization’s standing with the Registry in-between updates to the List, use the Registry Search Tool. If there is a difference between the List and the Registry Search Tool, the Registry Search Tool controls for determining good standing status.
The May Not Operate or Solicit for Charitable Purposes List is in comma separated value (CSV) format. CSV files may be opened by a number of applications, including Microsoft Excel. The Attorney General’s Office prepares an annual summary report derived from the financial disclosure documents filed by commercial fundraisers and commercial coventurers. These reports include statistics for donations of both cash and used personal goods. The reports are available below in PDF format.
To aid in research and analysis, lists of the revenue and portion given to the charitable organization for each campaign are separately provided. Starting with 2019, the lists are in comma separated value (CSV) format. CSV files may be opened by a number of applications including Microsoft Excel and text editors such as Notepad. For campaign years prior to 2019, the lists are available in XLS(X) format.
